Garden centers and plant nurseries sell annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, vegetables and houseplants, along with soil, mulch, fertilizer, pots and tools. Independent nurseries often grow part of their own stock and carry varieties that do well in the local climate, while big-box garden departments compete on price for common plants. Wholesale nurseries and growers sell to landscapers and sometimes to the public at volume prices; tree nurseries sell balled-and-burlapped and container trees and can deliver and plant large specimens. Specialty growers focus on bonsai, cactus and succulents, orchids or native plants, and hydroponics stores sell lights, nutrients and systems for growing indoors.

Bare root plants arrived completely covered in white mold and squishy. The bag smells like they were in the plastic drenched for a long time. They absolutely refused to refund me or even entertain making it right by sending a new shipment. These plants are not just dormant, they arrived rotted being eaten by fungi. Absolutely rubbish. They said I needed to have purchased additional protection guarantee in order for them to help me. There was no option to do so when I checked out on their website which guided me to gpay. Shouldn't have to buy extra "protection" in order to get a product for your moneys worth. Never again.

In Nov 2025 I ordered what I believed to be 50 total bamboo plants to be shipped in April 2026. The invoice I recieved was not clear. I contacted customer service with the discrepancy. I was told 1. Despite the order screen on their website showing 50 plants, I had only ordered two plants. 2. They could not cancel my order. Not having heard back, come April I forgot about canceling again. But I received a shipment email stating 2 packs of 25 had shipped... I received 2 ALL brown plants. Hopeful, I planted them anyway. Now July, one plant remains all brown, minus a new shoot growing off the root. The other plant has about 6 in of growth. They were supposed to be 1-2 ft tall. I tried to leave a review on their website, but that was a week ago and the reviewing site said it would take just a few hours. If you order from TN Wholesale, don't count on the check out screen to be accurate (or the shipment description-see email attached). Don't count on the height when ordering. Certainly don't count on their customer service.

A cautionary tale β please read before ordering bare-root trees here. In December I ordered 25 bare-root American beech ($142, order T-5231533). Because of a Tennessee drought, the nursery delayed my shipment and emailed to say they'd hold the order rather than "risk sending compromised plants," so that what I received would be "healthy, viable, and has the best chance to thrive." I appreciated the honesty. But the trees didn't ship until May, past the ideal dormant window for beech, and arrived with almost no fine feeder roots. I planted them promptly, sited them correctly, and watered consistently all spring. By mid-June, while everything else I'd planted had leafed out, not one of the 25 beech had broken bud; every trunk scratched brown and dry. A total loss. When I reached out, their support acknowledged in writing that the root system was compromised before shipping. Then they declined any refund or replacement, citing a 24-hour reporting window and the fact that I hadn't bought their optional "Plant Protection." The most they offered was 10% off a future order. (The replies also read as automated, and at one point lost track of the very order we'd been discussing.) What b

UPDATE: AVOID this business! All trees were dead within days of planting (per scratch test) despite planting and watering per instructions. It seems the trees arrived impaired/stressed beyond recovery. Company refuses to offer more than store credit, meaning that I would have to pay shipping to buy new trees that might be just as impaired and die. Given that I bought the trees on sale, the offered credit may not even cover the cost of replacement trees. WARNING: You get what you pay for with their rock bottom prices - possibly nothing but dead plants. ββ I ordered trees on 3/9 and the site said shipping was 3-5 days. I expected them to ship promptly but they did not ship for well over a week then arrived 3/25. In the interim, the company sent multiple emails offering faster delivery for a yelp or google review, which is unethical and equates to buying reviews. I bought pine trees and they arrived bare root with only a bit of wet shredded paper around them. I ordered a two-for-one deal and got three. Two had a lot of brown needles. I soaked for two hours then potted in an appropriate soil blend to hold them till planting, as they arrived in the evening and we had erratic weather.

Ordered the Ostrich Plume ferns a 2 weeks ago and they came in yesterday. Price was amazing but I wanted to see what they looked like before I ordered more. Box showed up, they are all moist, were well packaged and the ferns are already stretching their little rolled up legs. I feel strongly they will do great so today I ordered the Haystack ferns. Again, great price. I think Iβve found an amazing new nursery!!
